Ford introduced its new hatchback version, Ford Figo in India on 25-2-2010. It comes in almost 8 variants combining both petrol and diesel versions. They are Ford Figo Petrol LXI, Ford Figo Petrol EXI, Ford Figo Petrol ZXI, Ford Figo Petrol Titanium, Ford Figo Diesel LXI, Ford Figo Diesel EXI, Ford Figo Diesel ZXI and Ford Figo Diesel Titanium.

Hatchback segment cars are fast taking over the Indian automotive market, the launch of Ford Figo Diesel EXI Car, confirms this. The vehicle is fitted with Tubeless Tyre of Size 175/65 R14. Sporting the same features as Figo Petrol it is powered by a 1.4L Duratorq diesel engine. The mileage expected of the vehicle in city is 14.5kmpl, whereas that of the highway is 18.5kmpl.

Engine Specifications

Figo Diesel EXI is fitted with a 1.4L V16 Diesel Engine that delivers 50.7 Bhp. The 1399cc engine has 4 in line cylinders featuring 4 valves with SOHC configuration per cylinder. Figo EXI also deliver maximum power of 69 (50.7) @ 4,000 and maximum torque at 160 (16.3) @ 2,000.

Technical Specifications

The new Figo Diesel features Independent McPherson Strut with Dual Path Mounts for Front Suspensions and Semi Independent Twist Beam, Coil Springs in the rear. The Shock Absorbers offered are the McPherson Strut with Coil Springs. The turning radius of the wheel base is estimated at 4.9 meters with ventilated discs type brakes in the front and drum brakes at the rear. It also offers a 5 speed manual transmission.

Safety Measures and Other Specifications

Ford Figo offers a selection of safety features that include Central Locking system, Power Door Locks, Child Safety Locks, Halogen Headlamps and Keyless Entry. Other safety features include Seatbelt warning indicator, Rear Seat belts and Door-ajar warning.

The vehicle also provide further supplementary features such as Passenger side ORVM (Out Side Rear View Mirrors), Full Wheel Covers, Front Power Windows, Remote Trunk Open, Fabric Insert on Door Trims, Passenger Vanity Mirror on Sun Visor, Removable Parcel Tray, Music System and Engine Immobiliser.

Exterior

The vehicle, not only stunning but also cheap is available in dimensions of 3795mm for length, 1680mm width and 1427mm height. The ground clearance is 168mm while the wheelbase of the car is 2489mm. The USP of Ford Figo is to launch a car with a new and different front, side and rear design.

Headlight, in the front forms a big cluster of bright lights shaped like a human eye. Turn indicators find their position above the headlight. You have also the option to fit a fog light at added charge. The exterior features fitted to the vehicle include a slim upper grille in comparison to a large and aggressive lower grille, thus giving the curves and flow lines of the vehicle a sporty look. It offers a sleek antenna fitted to the centre of the front side of the roof and rain sensing wipers by the front windshield.

In addition, the rear hatch of the vehicle has a wide opening with taillights made out in vertical shape, with brake light, turn indicator and reverse light featured. It also offers a small Rear spoiler, positioned at the back end of the roof. The trunk of the Ford Figo is also remote controlled.

The vehicle comes out in colours such as Diamond White, Panther Black, Moon Dust Silver, Squeeze, Colorado Red, Sea Grey and Metallic Chill. Meanwhile, the outside rear view mirrors, front bumper and door handles available are also body-coloured.

Interior

The cabin of the car is fitted with class-leading features to attract more buyers. The driver seat is comfy and can be adjusted, while the rear seats sports a bench like design. The seats have a dual tone colour and the interior of the vehicle is completely wrapped in fabric upholstery.

The rear seat, meanwhile as it does not have a headrest allows the driver to see clearly to the rear if required. The sporty dashboard of the car is fitted with advanced stereo with CD/MP3 player, Radio and speakers as well as an instrument panel. It also offers an Air Conditioner, with AC vents facing driver and front passenger and two vents facing the rear seat row. Other features are the instrument panel tachometer, digital clock, digital odometer and two trip meters.

Comfort and Convenience

Ford Figo with 5 doors can accommodate 5 passengers including the driver. The front seats are spacious and comfortable, featuring a Cup-holder. Meanwhile, the vehicle provides a three spoke and multi- function steering wheel which is rake adjustable. The Figo provides Air conditioning and heater. Other features include a glove compartment in the front row, cigarette lighter and electric folding rear view mirror. Ford Figo is also equipped with a wide boot space of 280 litres. Additional features such as Power Steering, Power Windows- Front, Remote Trunk Opener, Remote Fuel Lid Opener and Low Fuel Warning Lights are also provided.
