It features a 2.2 litre CRDe mHawk engine, generating 140 BHP @ 3750 rpm power and 330Nm @ 1600-2800 rpm torque. It also offers a six speed synchromesh manual gearbox.
Other offered features also cover Ventilated disc brakes – Twin pot with Tandem Booster at the front, Disc brakes– Single pot with ball in ramp for the back, rack and pinion type of steering, McPherson Type IFS suspension for the front and Multilink type IRS suspension for the rear.

The vehicle offered in three variants can be seen either in a two wheel drive or a four wheel drive version. Regular safety features loaded on the model includes ABS with EBD and airbags.
The variants offered are the XUV 500 W6: 4×2 priced at 10.8 lakh rupees, XUV 500 W8: 4×2 at a cost of 11.95 lakh rupees and the XUV 500 W8: 4×4 costing 12.88 lakh rupees.
