Maruti went on to show its latest model, the Ertiga compact MPV at the 2012 Auto Expo that was conducted in New Delhi. This model is scheduled to be available by the close of this March.
Even if the new model may have the Swift platform, the front of the vehicle is that of Ritz hatchback and the peeled back headlights also gives it an appearance of the latest Swift.
It is expected to be offered in about three variants of petrol and diesel options.
The debut model sports the latest K14B petrol engine delivering power 93.87bhp@6000rpm and 13.25kgm torque at 4000rpm. Another model on display has the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine same as that in SX4 producing 89bhp.
Meanwhile, bumper at the front makes it appear sporty. It also features a big inlet for air and neat inserts befitting the fog lights.
Having a stretched wheelbase of 2740mm, the overall length of this MPV is 4265mm, thus accommodating the middle row seats, enabling the vehicle to hold seven people. If required, the last row as well as individual seats of the third row can be folded to make more room to hold luggage.
Back and beige plastics for the cabin, double AC system, design of the dashboard similar to that in the Swift as well as its gearbox are some other features offered.
Pricing for the vehicle, have not been let out, as yet.
